The replacement of the concrete beam bridge that carries busy Route 1 over Maple Avenue (Route 213) in Middletown is going along on schedule.
After nearly a year-and-a-half of roadwork, PennDOT spokesperson Charles Metzger said this week the project is in it’s final traffic configuration.

The project will also realign the Route 1 ramps to Maple Avenue, resurface the roadway approaches and ramps, install glare screens on the median barrier and upgrade drainage systems.
During the project the speed limit along the highway was been reduced in the work zone.
The work on the nearly $16 million project should be done by October 2014.
