A 24-year-old woman was arrested charges she stole money from her grandmother.
Amber Phipps, of Vermillion Drive in Falls’ Levittown section, was charged Wednesday with writing bad checks, access device fraud and two counts of felony forgery. She was arraigned before District Judge Jan Vislosky and bail was set at 10 percent of $10,000.

The grandmother noticed in June that Phipps forged two of the woman’s checks and wrote them out to herself, police said. The two checks were for over $600 and both written in May, according to court documents.
In July, police said they were notified that the Phipps was suspected by the grandmother of using her debit card without authorization. The charges happened within several hours at several convenience stores and Wal-Mart. Court documents show the charges totaled just over $220.
When police spoke with Phipps, she told them she wrote the checks to herself and made the debit card charges, court records say.

Video surveillance from Wal-Mart was given to police on Wednesday. The video is alleged to show Phipps using her grandmother’s bank card.
Phipps was charged by Lower Makefield police this month with retail theft and related charges in connection with a July incident in that township. She faces a preliminary hearing in that case on September 11 .
