The Neshaminy High School wrestling coach charged last month with viewing and downloading child pornography was fired Tuesday by the school board.
Thomas Scott Porter, 50, of the Hatboro section of Upper Moreland, was charged in early August with possession and dissemination of child pornography, and criminal use of a communication facility. Porter remains in Montgomery County jail on 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

The school board briefly mentioned the reason they were voting to fire Porter and then approved the personnel matter. Porter worked in the school district for several years as a coach and was paid as a contractor.
The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office said federal authorities stumbled upon the child porn that was uploaded from Porter’s home. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered over 50 images of child pornography.
Porter also worked as a youth wrestling coach at Southeastern Pennsylvania Wrestling Team, which maintains practice facilities in Montgomery, Bucks, and Chester Counties.

A preliminary hearing in Hatboro is set for mid-month for Porter.
