Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R PA-8) gave the Republican Party’s weekly national radio address this Labor Day weekend focusing on the GOP’s effort to create jobs and grow the economy.
With unemployment at its lowest point since December of 2008 – 7.4 percent as of August and a new report on the way, “the workers who drive our economy see nothing but roadblocks coming out of Washington,” Fitzpatrick said.

“The nationally syndicated speech focused on Fitzpatrick’s efforts to assuage the frustration of many Americans with the current status-quo – including efforts to reform and rebuild America’s health care,” said a press release from the Congressmen.
Over the last two months, Fitzpatrick has sponsored, co-sponsored, or supported a number of measures he thinks would help get a slumbering economy going. such as the ‘The Credit Access and Inclusion Act”, or the ‘Made in America Act’ [HR 2667] which would help ‘American made’ products by creating an ‘American Star’ labeling program similar to the ‘Energy Star’ program- connecting American businesses and like never before,” he said in June.
A major problem for many of the economic job creating bills for both parties is getting both chambers of Congress to agree on a proposed measure.

Despite the disagreement, Fitzpatrick says “We are a nation that builds things. From skyscrapers to smart-phone apps, we live in a land where anyone can create, innovate, and pursue their American Dream,” stated Fitzpatrick. “But as I’ve traveled throughout my district this summer – visiting 100 local businesses in 100 days to speak with workers and business owners – it’s easy to sense that Americans are frustrated.”
Fitzpatrick has supported pro-growth legislation throughout his terms in Congress- recently focusing on the need to expand American energy efforts, including construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. In July, Fitzpatrick introduced the bipartisan Made in America Act which would seek to boost American manufacturing by connecting consumers and manufacturers through a standardized labeling system.
