Levittown-area filmmaker Robert Mickles got the news he hoped for Thursday afternoon: His movie’s Kickstarter account had surpassed its goal.

“Off-Time” raised over $28,000, surpassing its goal amount of $25,000. About $8,000 of the funding came in the final 24 hours of the Kickstarter campaign.

“Thank you to all who have pledged,” Mickles, a Fairless Hills resident, wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

The money raised will mostly go toward sound editing, licensing of music and hiring a composer. Mickles said his local crew can edit the footage themselves.

The film tells the story of a 28-year-old Pennsbury graduate and struggling actor who moved to Los Angeles and strikes up a relationship with a 17-year-old high school student. “As much as the two desperately need each other to get by in an incredibly flawed world full of loneliness, there’s just as many factors going against them,” a summary reads.

Mickles said the film script came to him through the relative of a co-worker when he worked at Best Buy and filmed from spring of 2012 to summer of 2012. Much of the film was shot locally, additional scenes were filmed in California, Maryland and Canada.
