SEPTA posted a message to customers explaining “significant disruptions” after heavy storms dumped several inches of rain on the area.

Here is an excerpt from the letter that talks of delays on Regional Rails, including the Trenton Line, which runs through Bristol and Levittown:

The bulk of the service disruptions occurred on Regional Rail when flooding and other weather conditions delayed some trains for up to an hour. Amtrak signal and overhead power problems affected service on the Trenton, Wilmington/Newark, Paoli/Thorndale, and Media/Elwyn Lines causing temporary suspension of service. At the height of morning travel, service was also suspended on the Manayunk/Norristown between Elm Street and Miquon Stations due to a wash out of the track ballast and we experienced high water on the Chestnut Hill West, which affected service. Area road closures made it difficult for our responders to quickly get to the locations hit the hardest to start repairs.

Across our system, the AM storm produced an average of 3-4 inches in some areas according to local reports. By 10:00 a.m. much of our service was back to normal, but we still were working to restore service on the Manayunk/Norristown Line until it was returned to service at approximately 3:00 p.m. This was made possible by the tireless efforts of SEPTA forces who completed repairs to the washed out sections of the track bed. To the right are photos of the damage along the Manayunk/Norristown Line, near Spring Mill Station, taken by SEPTA employees.
