The 37-year-old local man was stopped at a red light on northbound Route 1 when a tractor-trailer failed to stop and plowed into the rear of Torres’ 2011 Nissan Versa, a NJ.com story says.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has not announced if the driver of the tractor-trailer – Kevin Plante, 56, of Harrisville, Rhode Island – will face charges in the crash.

MyCentralJersey.com reports Route 1 was jammed for several hours as police investigated the accident Friday morning.

Torres was killed just hours before a Levittown family was in a serious crash just outside of Trenton. Two kids were killed along with their mother in that crash.
