Penndel, Falls to be Sprayed for Mosquitoes

Authorities from the Bucks County Health Department working with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will be conducting “limited adult mosquito control” spraying in Falls Township and Penndel Borough early this week.

Spraying will begin Monday evening between 7:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in the Taddea Woods section of Penndel Borough.

“The application chemical will be Masterline Kontrol, applied by one person using an ultra low volume backpack sprayer at a rate of one ounce per acre,” according to a press release from the county.

The second application of mosquitoes-killing chemicals in Lower Bucks County will take place across several sections of Falls on Tuesday evening.

The areas in Falls to be sprayed include the North Park section of Levittown (all streets between Northpark Drive and Falls Tullytown Road) as well as a portion of the Nottingham Village section of Fallsington, including Nottingham Drive, Nottingham Court, Jensen Drive, Nancia Drive, Taylor Drive, Robin Hood Drive, Sherwood Drive and Marion Road, according to the county.

The chemical Duet will be spread throughout the neighborhoods by a “ultra low volume truck mounted sprayer at a rate of one ounce per acre,” officials said. The two trucks to be used during the operation will be a green Chevrolet truck with the County of Bucks seal on the side, as well as a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck also with the county seal visible.

Both sprays are weather permitting.

Falls Township officials hired a company to spray Duet along Franklin Street, Martha Drive and Martha Circle in late June.

On Friday, the state announced two mosquitoes found in Bristol Township tested positive for West Nile Virus. No human cases have been reported.
