Curious Girlfriend Discovers 100 Child Porn Files on Croydon Man’s Phone, Officials Say

A man from Bristol Township’s Croydon section turned himself over to Delaware County authorities last week after an investigation revealed his cell phone had over 100 photos of child pornography on it, officials said.

Jeffrey Warshaw, 43, of the 700 block of Harris Avenue, is facing 100 counts of possession of child pornography and 100 counts of criminal use of a communication facility, both felony charges. He was arraigned and sent to Delaware County prison after failing to make 10 percent of $50,000 bail last Wednesday.

According to court papers, investigators examined the contents of  Warshaw’s Motorola Razr phone and discovered at least 100 images and videos containing child pornography. Some of the media files showed infants and toddlers, police said.

Authorities were first alerted to the pornography, according to police, when they were called to an address in Collingdale for a reported domestic dispute on December 28. The girlfriend reportedly told a 9-1-1 dispatcher that the dispute started after she found child pornography on her boyfriend’s cell phone.

The girlfriend told Collingdale police that she was checking Warshaw’s phone because she suspected he was cheating on her. Instead, she found emails to female recipients stating that he “like them young.” The messages also said that he wanted to have sex with them all, court documents show. A police officer then saw a photo attached to the email that showed a “young preteen” dressed in underwear and a t-shirt.

When speaking with an officer, Warshaw blurted out that he “should have erased the photos.”

Warshaw went to Collingdale police and wrote a statement saying there pornographic videos featuring underage children, then adding that he was not sure, according to court documents. He also said there was “regular” porn on the phone, police said.

Collingdale police then turned the phone over to Pennsylvania State Police for forensic analysis.

The affidavit of probable cause was filed in Delaware County by Detective Lisa M. Carroll of the Delaware County Criminal Investigations Division. The investigation was handled by the Delaware County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Warshaw surrendered to police last Wednesday, months after the investigation began, said Emily H. Harris, spokesperson for the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office.
