If police Chief  Joseph Sciscio gets his way, a curfew for unaccompanied minors may be coming back to Penndel Borough.

Penndel had a curfew for minors for years before it was removed in 2012 when the ordinance was stuck from the books as the borough had all its codes updated.

Sciscio said he is pushing for the revival of the ordinance in hopes it will curb juveniles from congregating, causing vandalism and noise.

While the chief says the borough of 2,300 doesn’t have a lot of problems with youth, the ordinance would be helpful.

“It gives us a chance to intervene if kids are out late at night,” he told LevittownNow.com.

The proposed curfew would be in effect on Sunday through Thursday from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.; Friday and Saturdays the curfew would be active from midnight to 6 a.m.

“We don’t anticipate citing a lot,” Sciscio said. “We just want to move kids along and get them home.”

The borough council is expected to vote on the curfew in the coming months.
