Ashley Simons’ย bright scintillating smile says it all when you ask her why she’s so passionate about her hair styling career.
“It’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl. One day I woke up and I was 25 and said, ‘Mom, I’m going to hair school.’”
Earning ย a certification at the Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology, Ashley, now part of the staff at ย Maria’s Dye in Style, synthesizing ย her professional experiences and practical education, Simons’ is looking to buildup ย her client base.

Under the watchful eyes of America’s first sex symbol, framed Marilyn Monroe images, Simons said she recognizes the importance of the stylist-client relationship it’s as sacred as the doctor patient relationship.
“When clients come in for a consultation the first time, I take the time getting to know them before doing the initial consultation getting an idea of ย who they are and what’s going on in there world,” Simons.

It’s one of the things she does so well with her clients. She’s booked 3-4 weeks out because so many are repeats; bringing ย back ย their daughters, girlfriends, and mothers.

“That’s what I’m aiming for,” she said, as she tended to her first client of the day, Destiny De Long, who came in for a cut and styling session.

Now at the saloon regularly, raising ย Ashley’s profile ย and adding to her burgeoning client base is the focus for the stylist, owner Maria Marucci said.
Her expertise with Hot Heads Extensions – Ashley has one herself –ย is something we’re also offering, she said.

An additional service, Ashley will be offering comes “after the cut” called theย Express Keratin Treatment which is now available in the saloon is a four -week treatment that brings you hair back to ย restore hair to its natural state.
Maria’s Dye in Style has been a Bristol fixture for over five years now. ย The beauty-child of Marucci’s has been featured in a number of local publications earning high praise for her own artistic approach to styling and profiling the beauty portfolio of women in the area.

“We do get kids and men here too,” Marucci said laughingly.
Simons, who is 28, ย grew up on Monroe Street in the borough, enjoys an occasional vanilla vodka, takes walk-ins on Wednesday’s from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and ย Thursday’s from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.ย Thursdays at Maria’s Dye in Style are special for the guys too with a wash and cut for $14!
