Man Arrested After Chase, Charged in Theft of Tools

One of the suspects arrested following a Friday police chase in Middletown Township was charged with theft and receiving stolen property on Tuesday.

David Pilawski, 25, of Warminster, is accused of stealing $1,960 tools from the father of his girlfriend and selling them at a pawn shop, police said.

According to court papers, Pilawski was living with his girlfriend and her father on Reading Avenue at the time the items went missing and had “access and knowledge of the valuable property.”

The girlfriend’s father discovered his missing tools at a Pawn Shop on Veterans Highway in Middletown in early June. Police said a screw gun and two drills were found at the store. Sales records from the person who sold the tools to the store showed Pilawski was the seller, police reported.

Court papers show surveillance photos lead the pawn shop owner to identify Pilawski as the seller.

The 25-year-old was video arragined before Middletown District Judge John Kelly Jr. and faced 10 percent of $20,000 bail in the case.

He is already in jail after he was caught after a police chase that started after he walked out of the Toys R Us on East Lincoln Highway Friday afternoon with $125 of stolen of baby formula. His bail was lowered in that case from 10 percent of $25,000 to 10 percent of $2,500.
