Gas Leak on Rt 13 Causes Lane Closures

At approximately 9:45 a.m., construction crews working on Rt 13 caused a gas leak about 10 feet below the grounds surface shutting down traffic between Green Ln and Edgely Rd, fire officials say.

PECO crews arrived on scene shortly thereafter and went right to work to contain the leak, officials said.

Deputy Chief of the Edgely Fire Companyย Brian Cirard said ย that a two-inch pressure leak was the cause for traffic being stopped ย in both directions.

At 11:40 a.m, Cirard said the leak was cleared but traffic on the north side of the busy highway but the north bound lane was still closed.

No injuries were reported or businesses’ ย effected, said Cirard.
