Dozens of locals gathered at Croydon Acres Park Saturday night under a clear sky and shining sun, to sit on lawn chairs, enjoy the company of friends and family and listen to the sweet sounds of a local band, Asylum Wind.

The summer concert series ‘Music in The Park’ is hosted by the Croydon Acres Civic Association and is in its second run, having completed a series of concerts last summer, where Asylum Wind was too, a guest.

The free concert series is a chance for locals in the area to listen to free music, enjoy cheap snacks, and purchase raffle tickets.

The band played the sounds of the Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Cavaliers, The Moody Blues, and more as locals drank cans of soda, snacked on treats, and laughed and chatted with members from across the community, including members of the Bristol Township Council, who came out to support.

“Ya know, I am so glad that we are having nice weather,” said Councilwoman Amber Longhitano. “I was worried! It seems like we’ve been living in the Amazon rainforest these past few days with all these afternoon thunder storms! It’s a perfect night for this though.” Council President Bob Lewis Jr. sat in a lawn chair nearby, tapping his foot as he listened to some of the classics.

All money raised from the event is given right back to the Croydon Acres Civic Association, which prides itself on using such money to provide special events within the Croydon community, similar to this one.

“It’s a free concert, for a dollar you can get chips and a drink. You can’t beat it!” said CACA’s own Tammy Hardy. “It’s nice to see members of the council come out too. People think, hey if an event like that is good for those in council, it’s good for me too!”
