He often pals around with his friend George Clooney, but actor Richard Kind returned to his alma mater on Monday evening to receive an award from Pennsbury High School’s drama program.

Before the evening awards ceremoney, which featured performances by some of Pennsbury’s best performing arts students, Kind took time to host a workshop for the up-and-coming thespians.
“I don’t know what I learned here, I can’t be specific,” Kind said. “But it’s obvious that care and love were given here and at home.”
Kind was presented the school’s Orange Award by former drama teachers Dr. Dan Mankowki and Dr. John Roche, both of whom had Kind as a student.
The 56-year-old TV, film and stage actor thanked the school for funding arts education and said the arts helped make him a “good citizen.”
With the eyes of the drama students glued to the stage, Kind told the students they needed luck and hard work to make it in Hollywood.
“I used to call myself the Smucker’s of acting – with a face like this you have to be good,” Kind said to the giddy audience.
Kind, who grew up in Yardley and graduated in 1974, has played notable starring roles in sitcoms “Mad About You” and “Spin City.” He also has acted in award-winning movies – “Argo” being the most recent – and stage shows in Los Angeles and New York.
After accepting his award, Kind signed autographs and took photographs with community members and students.
