Nearly 7,000 Pounds of Drugs Collected Over Weekend

County officials announced Monday that at 48 drop-off locations across Bucks County 6,710 pounds of unused prescription medication were collected on drug take-back event on Saturday.

The take-back event was part of a nationwide effort pushed by the Drug Enforcement Agency to help prevent substance abuse and protect the environment.

“From my travels to Giant in Levittown, Tullytown, Falls, Lower Makefield, Yardley, and back, it appeared that all the sites were quite busy.” Kathy Kraeck, community mobilizer for Pennsbury LYFT, said.

In fact, LevittownNow.com contributor Dave Sommers said he saw people dropping off bags of unwanted medication.

“From my own conversations, people were very pleased about the program, and happy to hear about the local permanent boxes where medications can be dropped off anytime,” Kraeck said.
