A woman told police that her boyfriend – David Root, 62 – had struck her in the face, under her left eye and grabbed her by both arms, pushing her against the bathroom wall, an affidavit of probable cause stated. Police took images of bruises on the woman’s face and arm.

The woman said the incident escalated when Root drew a pistol and held it to her head and threatened to shoot her, according to police.

The 62-year-old was taken into custody without incident and a Beretta semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the nightstand next to a bed in the home, police said.
