Croydon Man With Megan’s Law History Gets Jail Time

A Bristol Township man with a criminal history of child sex crimes stretching back to the early 1990s was sentenced Monday to serve up to 20 years in state prison.

Gary Durfee, 72, of the township’s Croydon section, was ordered by Bucks County Court of Common Pleas Judge Stephen Corr to serve a 10- to 20-year prison term.

In addition, Durfee will be subject to lifetime sex offender registration as a classified Tier III offender.

Durfee pleaded guilty in May to three counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, according to the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office.

In May 2024, the FBI’s Fort Washington Resident Agency uncovered digital communications between a known child sexual exploitation subject in Tennessee and a WhatsApp account using the name “Corey Bratton.”

Federal investigators traced the messaging account, which was used to receive direct messages containing numerous illicit videos and images of young boys, to Durfee’s residence on Sycamore Avenue in Croydon, authorities said.

The following month, the Lower Makefield Township Police Department was contacted by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of the Chandler, Arizona, Police Department during a separate investigation.

Investigators linked Durfee’s Facebook account, which used the same alias, to communication and image sharing.

A search warrant executed on Facebook confirmed the account actively participated in distributing explicit images of young boys, police said.

Federal, county, and local law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Durfee’s Croydon home on March 14, 2025.

Detectives said they seized multiple electronic devices, including a laptop connected to a digital drive containing hundreds of images depicting prepubescent boys.

Durfee admitted to investigators during the search that the items belonged to him, according to court papers.

Lower Makefield Township Police Chief Joseph Kelly credited multiple agencies working together for the arrest.

“This arrest demonstrates the power of collaboration among law enforcement,” Kelly said. “Working with other agencies, our detective was able to protect children and bring this offender to justice.”

“Protecting children from sex offenders remains one of our highest priorities, and this sentence ensures a repeat offender is removed from our community for a very long time,” Bucks County District Attorney Joe Khan said.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Megan’s Law records, Durfee’s past criminal history includes 1992 convictions for indecent assault, sexual abuse of children – photography or film, and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, as well as a 2001 conviction for sexual abuse of children – photography or film. The past cases were out of Philadelphia.
