The 41-year-old woman was preliminarily arraigned at the end of July on charges of escape, evading arrest or detention on foot, possession of a controlled substance, and flight to avoid apprehension, according to a court docket.

The case has been waived to the Bucks Court of Common Pleas for trial.

On Wednesday, July 8, Tullytown Borough police were dispatched to the Wawa on Levittown Parkway for a report of an unwanted female. Upon contacting the woman, officers said she initially provided a false name and birth date.

When officers asked if she had taken any substances, the woman stated she had taken Xanax and produced a prescription bottle bearing her name, police said.

Verifying the bottle’s label revealed her true identity and showed she had an active arrest warrant, police said.

Authorities said the woman then fled the scene on a bicycle.

After a brief pursuit, officers apprehended and arrested her on the outstanding warrant, police said.

A search of her backpack yielded three containers of suspected controlled substances, according to police.

Officers located one clear plastic bag containing a white, crystalline substance consisting of small, irregularly shaped rocks, a second clear plastic bag containing fine white powder, and a small plastic container holding a brown, crystalline substance. The substances were submitted to a lab for analysis, with evaluation of the report pending, police said.

After being secured in the rear passenger seat of a marked police vehicle with her hands handcuffed behind her back, the woman escaped while awaiting medical evaluation.

Police said she maneuvered her handcuffed hands to the front of her body and climbed out of the rear passenger window, which had been left open due to the temperature.

Officers gave chase on foot and apprehended her a short distance away.

She was transported to Lower Bucks Hospital in Bristol Township for an involuntary behavioral health commitment.

The following day, according to police, hospital staff notified officers that the woman had escaped the facility and was at large.

Police said they took the woman back into custody at the end of July.

In addition to the new charges, she faces an October probation violation hearing stemming from a 2021 arrest for drug-related offenses in Bristol Township.
