In a second alleged case involving drugs in a sock at the county jail, a Bucks County Correctional Facility inmate is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after corrections officers allegedly found clonazepam hidden inside a sock during a cell search at the women’s facility.

Amber Lynn Atkinson, 35, formerly of Morrisville, was charged in June with and arraigned this month on charges of felony possession of controlled substance or contraband by an inmate and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance. The charges were held for trial this week.
The charges stem from an investigation by the Bucks County Detectives at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown Township.
According to the affidavit, corrections officers searched Atkinson’s cell after observing suspicious behavior. During the search, officers allegedly discovered a small plastic bag hidden in the toe of a sock containing four white pills and several broken pills.

The evidence was secured and turned over to investigators after it was recovered.
County detectives said officers advised inmates are not permitted to possess pills except when medication is being dispensed through the facility’s medical staff.

Detectives later identified the pills as clonazepam, a Schedule IV controlled substance, and alleged Atkinson knowingly possessed the medication without authorization.
Atkinson remains jailed on 10 percent of $25,000 cash bail, per court records.
