Beginning Sunday, July 12, the cost of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp will climb by 4 cents, rising from 78 cents to 82 cents.

The upcoming rate changes will also impact several other postal products:

  • Standard 1-ounce letters: Increasing from 78 cents to 82 cents.
  • Metered 1-ounce letters: Increasing from 74 cents to 78 cents.
  • Domestic postcards: Increasing from 61 cents to 65 cents.
  • International letters (1 ounce) and postcards: Increasing from $1.70 to $1.75.

The cost for each additional ounce on single-piece letters will hold steady at 29 cents.

The USPS announced its plan to raise rates on April 9 and pointed to rising operating costs and mounting losses.

The independent Postal Regulatory Commission approved the rate hikes on May 27.

The last increase was in July 2025, which saw stamp prices rise from 73 cents to 78 cents.

“In the midst of the severe financial crisis facing the Postal Service and continued rising operational costs, the Postal Service is using all available tools, including available regulatory pricing authority, to ensure we can continue to fulfill our universal service obligation and serve the American public,” the USPS said in an April statement.

Forever stamps do not expire and maintain a value equal to the prevailing 1-ounce First-Class Mail rate, regardless of future price adjustments.
