Missanelli, 70, of Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, was charged in April with simple assault and harassment.

According to court dockets first reported this week by sports website Crossing Broad, both charges were withdrawn at a scheduled preliminary hearing in late June.

“In this case, additional information led to the determination that the appropriate thing was to withdraw the charges,” the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office told FOX 29.

The charges stemmed from an April argument between Missanelli and his fiancée that escalated into what police described in court papers as a “scuffle.”

According to law enforcement, Missanelli alleged that his fiancée struck him in the chest, while she stated that he had slapped her.

Responding police officers reported that Missanelli had no visible injuries. The woman sustained a laceration to her head, swelling to her ear, and had fresh blood on her forehead, police said.

Missanelli, a licensed attorney, has long been a prominent figure in the Philadelphia sports media landscape.

Over his career, Missanelli worked as a journalist for The Philadelphia Inquirer and WB17, and served as a talk show host for radio stations 93.3 WMMR, 610 WIP, and 97.5 The Fanatic. He was removed from his role hosting a podcast for the sports news site OnPattison at the time of his arrest.

Beyond his media career, Missanelli is a part-owner of Briganti By The Bay Vineyard in Cape May County, New Jersey, has hosted a cooking show, and authored a children’s book titled “The Adventures of Shima The Shiba.”

Missanelli in 2024 produced a podcast investigating the 1962 unsolved murder of Carol Ann Dougherty at St. Mark Catholic Church. He was present last year when law enforcement officials announced that the decades-old cold case had been solved.
