The incident took place Wednesday, June 24, around 5:45 a.m. at the Legacy Gardens Assisted Living Facility on Bath Road in Bristol Township.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found a man sitting on the front porch of the assisted living center holding a black object in his hand. The object was later found to be the large knife, police said.

The man eventually dropped the knife and was detained, police said.

After speaking with a member of the staff who made the complaint, the woman alleged that earlier in the day she had requested the man to leave. After being asked a couple of times, the man took out the knife so the woman could see it and continued to refuse her requests. The woman was in fear of the well-being of herself and the residents of the facility, police said.

At the time of the man’s arrest, a small hatchet was also found in his possession. There were other “minor weapons” found as well, police said.

The man, who is 36 years old and homeless, was charged with weapons-related offenses and defiant trespassing. He was preliminarily arraigned and held on 10 percent of $300,000 bail.
