Two teenagers were injured Saturday evening when a metal object smashed through the windshield of a moving vehicle on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to the eastbound lanes of the turnpike in Bensalem Township at approximately 7:20 p.m. for reports of the dangerous incident.
State police said a Toyota sedan was traveling along the highway when the object burst through its front windshield. The vehicle was occupied by three boys from Langhorne, ages 14, 15, and 17.
The 14-year-old and 15-year-old, who were passengers in the sedan, sustained injuries in the crash, according to state police.

One teenager suffered lacerations to his arm, while the other sustained a serious nose injury, state police said.
Troopers identified the object as a cluster of seven metal shims welded together and secured to a metal bracket.

The parents of the teenagers were notified.
State police did not immediately release additional details regarding the origin of the metal object.
