The African American Museum of Bucks County will host its annual Juneteenth Community Festival on Saturday, June 6.

The free event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Mayor’s Park in Langhorne Borough.
Festival organizers said the day will feature live music, food trucks, children’s games, and educational speakers. Young attendees will also have a chance to meet a surprise guest character from Sesame Street.
The museum is preparing to open its first permanent home at the historic Boone Farm property in Middletown Township later this year.

To support the opening, the museum is running the AAMBC Boone Farm Capital Campaign. The initiative has a $2 million fundraising goal to finish transforming the 1717 stone building into an operating museum space.
Museum officials said the permanent location will allow them to highlight hidden figures and share the untold stories of Bucks County’s African American history.

Juneteenth is officially observed on June 19 and is also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day. It commemorates the end of slavery in the country. Juneteenth became a federally recognized holiday in 2021.
