
A Pennsbury School District teacher is in the running for the state’s 2027 “Teacher of the Year” contest.

Charles Boehm Middle School teacher Heather Bain is among the 12 finalists for the contest, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
The other finalists are:

Pennsylvania’s 2027 Teacher of the Year will be announced at a state awards ceremony in early December and will represent the state at various local, regional, and national functions, including the National Teacher of the Year ceremony in Washington DC.

The 2026 state Teacher of the Year was Madeline Loring, a fourth-grade teacher at Jefferson-Morgan Elementary School in the Jefferson-Morgan School District in Greene County.
The state’s 2025 Teacher of the Year, Leon Smith, was named National Teacher of the Year this month. He is a teacher at Haverford High School in the School District of Haverford Township in Delaware County.
