Suspects Target Unlocked Cars, Steal Three Vehicles

Police are investigating a series of overnight thefts that happened in Middletown Township from Saturday into Sunday morning.

In a statement, the Middletown Township Police Department reported that suspects targeted unlocked cars in multiple neighborhoods. The crooks ended up stealing three vehicles that had been left with key fobs inside.

The spree began in the southern portion of the township near Veterans Highway and New Falls Road, police said.

According to cops, the crime wave later shifted to the northern end of town.

Impacted areas, according to police, include neighborhoods off Route 413, near Langhorne-Yardley Road and Township Line Road, and sections of the Maple Point and Laurel Oaks developments.

The incidents involved suspects rummaging through unlocked cars to remove personal items, but it also included the theft of three vehicles.

Officers were able to track one of the stolen vehicles into New Jersey. It was recovered in Trenton, police said.

Investigators were reported to have collected evidence to assist in the ongoing investigation.

Middletown Township detectives are currently working with the Trenton Police Department and other New Jersey agencies that have reported similar crime recently.

Police said the department is looking at automated license plate readers and reviewing security camera footage to identify the suspects.

In response to the surge in thefts, the Middletown Township Police Department issued a reminder to residents:
