One Taken To Hospital After Fire

One person was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after an apartment fire.

The fire was reported shortly after 3 p.m. at the Country Manor Apartments off East Lincoln Highway in Middletown Township.

Sam Simon, the deputy chief of the Penndel Fire Company, said crews arrived to find an electrical outlet fire that had extended into the wall.

Smoke was visible coming from the roof of the building.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the blaze, officials said.

During the response, firefighters rescued one resident in a wheelchair from the apartment building, according to Simon.

The injured person was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s Office.

The Penndel Fire Company and the Middletown Township Department of Fire and Emergency Management were assisted at the scene by the Fairless Hills, Langhorne-Middletown, Levittown No. 2, and William Penn fire companies.
