A neighborhood park is slated for an overhaul after a unanimous vote by the Falls Township Board of Supervisors during last Thursday’s meeting.

Penns Grant Park in the Penns Grant neighborhood will receive a series of upgrades throughout 2026.
The supervisors approved the purchase and installation of a new swing set and a playground designed for children ages 2 to 12.
“I’m excited to see it,” said Supervisors Vice Chairperson Erin Mullen.

In addition to the new play structures, the township plans to resurface the park’s two tennis courts. The renovation will include the addition of lines for pickleball play to accommodate the growing popularity of the sport.
One of the additions will be Safety Town, a miniaturized version of Falls Township.

The Safety Town set up is designed as a space for young children to ride bikes, scooters, and “big wheels” while learning the basics of street safety. The mini-buildings and storefronts will feature open doors and windows to encourage interactive play.
Township Manager John Shepherd stated that the township is currently seeking a grant from T-Mobile to fund the Safety Town project.
The park will also introduce a Story Walk along its existing walking paths.

The planned Story Walk will consist of 10 to 20 stands, with each displaying a page of a book. Families can read as they stroll, moving from one stand to the next to complete the story.
The stands are designed to allow for book rotations to keep the experience new for returning visitors.

Funding for the Story Walk and its future maintenance was raised through a community yard sale hosted by the Falls Township Parks and Recreation Department last year.
