Jonathan Paul Hernandez, 41, who was homeless, was killed Saturday afternoon in an incident that remains under investigation, Coroner Patti Campi reported.

Hernandez was hit by a SEPTA Regional Rail train at approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday on a section of track between the Croydon and Bristol stations.

SEPTA spokesperson John Golden said Hernandez was trespassing on the tracks when he was struck by an inbound Regional Rail train.

The Croydon Fire Company, township police, and officials from both Amtrak and SEPTA responded to the scene along Route 13.

The investigation forced a brief suspension of service on SEPTA’s Trenton Line on Saturday. Travelers on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor also experienced delays as a result of the response.
