The top three finishers will receive gift cards in the amounts of $200, $100, and $50. The winners will be invited to read their stories at a celebratory event in March on the collegeโs Newtown Township campus.
Joining the winners at the spring reading will be the contestโs final judge, author John Phillips. Phillips recently released his debut short story collection, “Dress Whites,” through Admission Press. His fiction focuses on the impact of the Vietnam War on veterans and those on the home front.

In addition to his fiction, Phillips has an extensive background as a sportswriter for Reuters. His reporting career includes coverage of more than 60 world titles, the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the World Series, and major events in tennis, figure skating, and horse racing.
While this contest focuses on adults, the college noted that a separate competition for high school students will be held later this spring.
The Bucks County Short Fiction Contest is funded and administered by the community collegeโs School of Language and Literature.
