

A verbal altercation outside a convenience store escalated into a shooting late Thursday night, according to police.

Bristol Township officers were called to the Wawa at 3800 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in the Levittown section of the township at 11:53 p.m. for a report of a shooting.
Officers arrived one minute later and found a man who had been shot, police said.
The man was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township before being flown to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia.

The wounded man’s condition was listed as critical as of Friday morning, police told LevittownNow.com.
The incident began as a verbal dispute that turned physical before one individual shot the other, police said.

The suspected shooter remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, and police do not believe there is any danger to the surrounding community, officials said.
A resident on nearby Idlewild Road reported a swarm of officers at the Wawa around midnight.
