Truman High School Among Schools To Pilot ‘Beetlejuice’ Musical

Something otherworldly will be coming to the stage at Harry S. Truman High School in Bristol Township.

Harry S. Truman High School has been selected by Music Theatre International to be one of a few high schools worldwide to pilot the high school version of the musical “Beetlejuice” in 2026.

“The cast and crew will have many opportunities to work with new techniques and exhaust their creative solutions to bring this show to life in the Lou Volpe auditorium,” said theatre teacher Tracey Gatte.

Based on Tim Burton’s hit film, the musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a teenager who finds her new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and the demon Beetlejuice. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away people, he unleashes chaos.

Due to the show’s content, which is recommended for ages 10 and older, Truman Drama will postpone its production of “The Lightning Thief” and present a smaller, family-friendly show in the spring.

“Beetlejuice,” the Broadway musical, premiered in 2018 and has been touring the country since 2022.

The high school’s drama department is planning to take the student cast and crew to New York City to see the return of “Beetlejuice” this fall or winter.
