Overnight lane closures are scheduled for a section of Route 1 in both Bensalem and Middletown townships.

The closures will be in place in both directions of Route 1 between Fairhill Avenue and the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly starting Sunday, Aug. 17, and lasting through Friday, Aug. 22.
The paving and line striping work is part of the ongoing Route 1 overhaul project.
Officials advise drivers to allow for extra travel time as backups and delays are expected in the work zones.

PennDOT has been paving this section of Route 1 in recent weeks as part of the first two phases of the larger reconstruction project.

Planning for a third phase, which will extend the project north of the Penndel/Business Route 1 Interchange, is also in progress.
