Sightings of the roughly four-foot alligator in Magnolia Lake, which is part of Silver Lake Park, began Wednesday.

Bristol Township police confirmed the sightings on Thursday and warned people to stay away from the water.
Kyle Asplundh, of Jupiter Alligator and Wildlife Sanctuary in Florida, captured the reptile around 10:30 p.m.

Asplundh, a Florida resident who grew up in Bucks County, assisted the Bucks County Rangers, the law enforcement agency that patrols county parks and property.

“We are happy to report that the alligator seen yesterday in Magnolia Lake has been safely captured by a person who has experience with these animals,” said Chief Ranger Durkin. “Bucks County Parks and Recreation and the Park Rangers thank Mr. Asplundh for his help in bringing this unusual incident to a close, as well as Bristol Township Police for their assistance.”

The alligator spent the night with the rangers before being returned to Asplundh on Friday morning for safekeeping, officials said.
It is unclear how the alligator, which is not native to Bucks County, came to be in the lake.
