Two more Rite Aid stores in the Levittown area are slated to close as the company moves forward in its bankruptcy proceedings

The stores closing are located at 6912 New Falls Road in Bristol Township’s Levittown section and in the Shoppes at Flowers Mill on North Flowers Mill Road in Middletown Township, according to recent court filings.
Customers at both locations said staff informed them the pharmacies will close in the coming weeks with the rest of the stores likely to shut down before the end of August.
The closures come on the heals of news that the Rite Aid locations on Pond Street in Bristol Borough and on Lincoln Highway in the Fairless Hills section of Falls Township will be closing.

The closures are part of a nationwide wave of shutdowns as Philadelphia-based Rite Aid deals with financial challenges.
The company, which filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and emerged less than a year later in 2024, recently announced it is “pursuing a strategic and value-maximizing sale process for substantially all of its assets.”

Stores in Bristol Borough and Falls Township closed during the 2023 bankruptcy.
Last month, Rite Aid sold its pharmacy assets to several companies, including CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, Albertsons, and Kroger.
Despite its prior restructuring, local stores have reportedly had bare shelves for the past two years.

A court document filed in New Jersey bankruptcy court indicated that Rite Aid’s post-bankruptcy plan was contingent on vendors returning to less restrictive payment terms and assurances of credit from capital providers, which the company claims did not materialize.
Rite Aid has also said macroeconomic pressures and reduced consumer spending as contributing factors.

Customers should also note that Rite Aid stopped honoring gift cards and accepting returns or exchanges after June 5.
Rite Aid operated more than 1,000 stores nationwide earlier this year and hundreds are closing.
