Marc Henry Kornstedt, 38, of Bristol Borough, was arrested last Friday, May 30, after officers responded to a domestic disturbance report at a home on Swain Street, according to court papers.

Officers were dispatched around 10:43 p.m. after a 9-1-1 call.

A woman at the residence told a patrol sergeant that her intoxicated ex-husband, who was identified as Kornstedt, had assaulted her and was upstairs with their children. The woman was armed with a bat, police said.

Kornstedt came downstairs and became aggressive with officers and attempted to slam the front door on them, police said.

The responding sergeant was able to gain entry, and Kornstedt allegedly began fighting with officers, police said.

During the struggle, the sergeant suffered a broken hand that will require surgery, police said.

Kornstedt also allegedly spit in an officer’s face and elbowed him in the face before being taken into custody, police said.

The woman later provided a written statement to a detective that alleged that Kornstedt came home intoxicated, and when confronted, became violent. She stated he punched her in the face, grabbed her hair, threw her into a wall, and placed her in a headlock, police said.

Kornstedt was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, as well as single counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment, and resisting arrest. He was preliminarily arraigned before District Judge Corryn Kronnagel and held on 10 percent of $250,000 bail.
