“We’re happy to announce that Jazz on the River is back. We were not able to have it last year, but we are back and excited to have it on Thursday, June 19 from 5 o’clock to 8 o’clock on the patio, rain or shine, of the King George II Inn,” Mary Gesualdi, president of the Academic Oversight Committee, told Bristol Borough Council recently.

Tickets are $75, and they are available at the tax office, Mignoni Jewelry, Bird of Paradise Flowers, or online.

The ticket price includes a buffet dinner and two adult beverages. This year’s event features celebrity bartenders and specialty cocktails available for an additional fee.

A jazz ensemble will provide entertainment for the evening, which Gesualdi describes as “phenomenal.”

A special highlight of the event is the recognition of the 1975 Bristol Borough High School boys basketball team on the 50th anniversary of their Pennsylvania state championship win.

“All of the proceeds from this event will go to our after-school education for all the schools and all the students in Bristol Borough,” Gesualdi explained.

The Academic Oversight Committee recently expanded its board with two new members: Stacy Moyers, chief marketing officer for the Girl Scouts of America’s Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter, and Kirsten Palmieri, vice president of human resources at Penn Community Bank.

Gesualdi said the committee’s mission is “to serve and support Bristol Borough’s educational community, enabling each student to grow into an inspired, productive and fulfilled lifelong learner.”

The committee recently awarded grants to Snyder-Girotti Elementary School and Bristol Borough High School. The elementary school received funding for a technology platform and the high school received money for a Writer’s Voice Workshop held in Silver Bay, New York.

“Naturally this helps our students with their public presentation skills which are so critical for students today,” Gesualdi said.
