Pennsylvania State police responded to the westbound lanes of the turnpike on Thursday, May 15, around 6:40 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a Ford Transit van and a Honda CRV, troopers said in a press release issued this week.
The van, which was driven by a 74-year-old Freehold, New Jersey, man, was in the right lane approaching a construction zone where shoulders were blocked by concrete barriers, state police said.
The van veered right to avoid the construction and struck an impact attenuator, state police said.

The impact sent the van in front of a Honda CRV, which was driven by a 57-year-old Sewell, New Jersey, man, which was in the left lane, state police said.
The CRV then struck the rear of the van, which caused the van to spin into a concrete barrier. The CRV also spun and struck a concrete barrier, state police said.
