Arizona Senator Joining Democrats For Bristol Twp. Town Hall

Arizona U.S. Sen. Ruben Gallego will join Pennsylvania Democrats in Bristol Township on Saturday for a town hall-style event.

The event is part of a broader effort to challenge Republican support ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. It will take place at noon in Bristol Township, but the exact location was not listed on invites.

The “People’s Town Hall,” which is hosted by state Democrats, will feature Gallego and Bucks County Commissioner Chairperson Bob Harvie, who is running for Congress in Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District.

The district is currently represented by Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick.

Democrats are using the event to criticize Fitzpatrick, who was first elected in 2016 and last held a town hall in 2017.

Democrats are urging Fitzpatrick to oppose the budget proposal from President Donald Trump. They are raising concerns about potential Medicaid cuts amid Republican efforts to reduce government spending.

In mid-April, the Bucks County Courier Times reported Fitzpatrick said was “committed to protecting” Medicaid.

The national Democratic party has plans to hold a series of “People’s Town Halls” and mobilize constituents to pressure members of Congress to vote against the GOP-backed House budget bill.

NBC News reported Gallego, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, is a speculated to be a contender for the 2028 presidential race.

Democrats are strategically targeting Republican-held districts considered vulnerable nationwide, including those represented by lawmakers who do not frequently hold town hall events.

Defending America PAC, a group billed as being “dedicated to protecting Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick” amid election challenges, said Gallego was previously a part of a caucus that supported Medicare for all, which Chris Pack, the PAC’s president, said was “a socialist, single-payer system.”

“Fitzpatrick protects Medicaid. Gallego wants to blow it up,” Pack said.

Fitzpatrick’s campaign didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

While the First Congressional District, which encompasses all of Bucks County and a portion of Montgomery County, is considered a swing district, Fitzpatrick has successfully defended his seat against previous primary and general election challengers.
