A common problem at the railroad bridge along South Flowers Mill Road became a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon when a box truck struck the low structure and was then hit from behind by an SUV.

The wreck occurred as the box truck was traveling toward East Lincoln Highway and became jammed under the bridge.
An SUV following the truck was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of the commercial vehicle, according to reports.
Police, firefighters and medics responded to the scene of the crash.

No serious injuries were reported in the collision, but the roadway was blocked for a period of time while crews worked to clear the scene.
Township officials have issued warnings for years regarding the bridge’s low clearance, but the strikes by truck drivers continue to occur frequently.
