Falls Township police said officers responded to a report of a gunshot at the Pennsbury Woods Apartments on New Falls Road around 6:40 p.m. Sunday.

Once they arrived at the complex, officers found a bullet had been fired through the door of one apartment and into the apartment across the hallway, police said.

A neighbor told a detective he heard a gunshot around 6:30 p.m. and then saw wood chips on the ground near his neighbor’s door. He said he observed a gunshot exit hole through the door and coming from inside the apartment, police said.

Officers established a perimeter and determined the resident of the apartment where the gunshot originated had not left the building, police said.

Negotiators made contact with the resident around 8:50 p.m., but police said the man refused to exit the apartment for several hours.

Around 11:35 p.m., the man surrendered and was identified as Munajj Rashad Booker, 29, of Falls Township.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for residents in and around the apartment complex. It was lifted shortly before midnight.
