Driver Dies After Car Hits Tree Along Route 1

A 36-year-old Bristol man died early Monday after his car struck a tree on Route 1, police said.

A passing driver reported seeing the taillights of a vehicle in a wooded area along northbound Route 1 between North Oxford Valley Road and Stony Hill Road at approximately 12:53 a.m., according to Falls Township police.

The passing driver stopped and found a 2010 Nissan Altima that had struck a tree, police said.

The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was unresponsive and entrapped, police said.

The badly wounded man was extricated from the vehicle.

The man was transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown Township, and he was pronounced dead.

Police said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
