Community Mourns Sudden Loss Of 9-Year-Old Boy

A Bristol Township community is in mourning after the sudden death of a 9-year-old boy.

Lex Heinisch was pronounced dead Tuesday evening following an incident at his home in the Croydon section of the township, according to officials.

The news was announced in a letter to parents in the Bristol Township School District Wednesday morning.

Police said officers, firefighters, and an ambulance were dispatched to the home in the Croydon section of Bristol Township at approximately 7:50 p.m. on Tuesday for a call concerning an unconscious child.

The boy was rushed to Lower Bucks Hospital and declared deceased, police said.

School officials issued an email to parents that the boy’s death was caused by an accident.

According to the school district, Lex was a fourth-grader at Mill Creek Elementary School where he had been a student since kindergarten.

The district said the boy “has touched many lives in his time with us. Our condolences and deepest sympathies are extended to all who have been impacted by this tragic loss. Today we are a grieving school community.”

In response to the tragedy, the school district has activated its District Crisis Team.

Counselors are available to provide support and assistance to both staff and students across the district.

“Our counselors will remain accessible to the entire student body, and with the help of our faculty, attempt to identify any students who may be having ongoing difficulties,” district officials added.

It is with profound sadness that I share that one of our students, Lex Heinisch, a 4th grader at Mill Creek Elementary School, died in his home on Tuesday evening after an accident.

Lex has been a student at Mill Creek since Kindergarten, and has touched many lives in his time with us. Our condolences and deepest sympathies are extended to all who have been impacted by this tragic loss. Today we are a grieving school community.

Many children and members of our community may be affected (either directly or indirectly) by this loss. We have activated our District Crisis Team and our counselors and they will be available today and upcoming days at Mill Creek and throughout the district to provide assistance to staff and students in need.

If you feel that your child is having difficulty coping with this event, please let us know as soon as possible. As always, our counselors will remain accessible to the entire student body, and with the help of our faculty, attempt to identify any students who may be having ongoing difficulties.

Please keep in mind that any traumatic event can trigger an emotional reaction, even to an unrelated event (family illness, prior losses, etc.)
