In one of the most closely watched races in the state, incumbent Republican State Rep. Joe Hogan secured his seat against Democrat challenger Anna Payne.

Unofficial election results showed Hogan with 54.5 percent of the vote and Payne with 45.3 percent.
Both candidates were active on the campaign trail, and hit voters with TV advertisements, mailers, and door-to-door canvassing.
The importance of the race was underscored by the attention from both state-level Democratic and Republican parties, each eager to control the Pennsylvania House. Democrats had seized control of the House in 2022 for the first time in years and Hogan won by only a slight margin.

Hogan, who is a lifelong resident of Lower Bucks County, holds a master’s degree in community and economic development from Penn State University. Prior to his tenure in Harrisburg, Hogan served as the program director for The Redevelopment Authority of the County of Bucks. His legislative focus includes serving on several caucuses such as Mental Health, Youth Safety, Cancer, PA Charitable Nonprofit, Animal Protection, Cigar, Irish American, and Bi-Partisan.
Payne is a lifelong Middletown Township resident and has worked as Bucks County Commissioner Diane Ellis-Marseglia’s executive assistant. She has served as a Middletown Township supervisor since 2020. Payne, a graduate of Neshaminy High School and Bucks County Community College, is also the vice chair at the Pennsylvania Rare Disease Council and co-founder of the Bucks County Cystic Fibrosis Alliance.

The 142nd Legislative District covers all of Langhorne Borough, Langhorne Manor Borough, Lower Southampton Township, and Penndel Borough and part of Middletown and Northampton townships.
