The Falls Township Police Department has announced the initiation of a new outreach program to support the homeless population in Bucks County.

The program is named Direct Appeal to Support Bucks County’s Homeless (DASH) and seeks to streamline resources and aid for the community’s transient and resident homeless.

“As a police department, along with our Human Services Co-Responder, Cara Gadzinski, we have regular proactive and reactive engagement with both the transient and resident homeless population in Falls Township. These encounters often involve only frustrating temporary solutions, such as checking on their welfare before relocating them, or determining a suspicious person who has been at a location for a period of time isn’t suspicious, sadly, they just have nowhere else to go,” police said.

To combat this, the department, with the help of Gadzinski, has fostered partnerships with local organizations, including the Bucks County Opportunity Council, Street Outreach, Street Medicine, and Advocates for the Homeless and Those in Need.

The donation drive began Friday, October 4, and will continue through Friday, November 1.
