Suspicious Package At Hospital Found To Contain Human Ashes

A suspicious package that prompted a response from police, firefighters, and a countywide hazmat team at Lower Bucks Hospital on Saturday evening was found to contain only the ashes of a patient’s relative, sources confirmed.

The incident began around 5 p.m. when staff at the Bristol Township hospital discovered a bag with a concerning handwritten note near the emergency room. The hospital contacted 9-1-1, according to sources and dispatch records.

Bristol Township police and the hospital’s security guards cordoned off the area around the bag.

Despite the situation, the hospital continued normal operations and patients were not disturbed, a hospital spokesperson stated.

Members of the Bucks County Special Operations Team’s hazmat unit donned in protective suits and used a robot to safely inspect and open the bag.

Further examination by suited firefighters confirmed the contents of the bag posed no threat.

By 7:30 p.m., the scene was declared safe after it was determined that the bag contained ashes, sources said.

The ashes were reportedly left unintentionally by a patient entering the facility, sources said.
