The Falls Township Board of Supervisors voted to grant unanimous preliminary and final land development approval to the Falls Township Fire Company on Yardley Avenue in the Fallsington section during their Monday evening meeting meeting.
The approval gives the fire company the greenlight to add 2,700 square feet to their station, which sits on a 1.54-acre property.

Brian Binney, of the fire company’s engineering firm Pennoni, outlined the expansion plans which include a front-facing bay for a full-size fire truck and a side bay for a pickup truck.

Additional work will include a gear room for equipment storage, reconfigured bathrooms, and sleeping quarters that are designed to support more volunteer firefighters, who can stay overnight at the station, Binney said.

In April, the Falls Township Zoning Hearing Board approved several variances, including related to parking, impervious surface, and building setback. The majority variances were for conditions already in place at the site.

David Shamberg, a longtime member of the fire company, told the zoners about the need of the expansion at the spring zoning hearing board meeting. He said the project would be the most substantial upgrade to the facility since the 1950s.

The fire company was formed in 1928 and has been located in Fallsington ever since.
The Falls Township Fairless Hills, and Levittown No. 1 fire companies all serve the municipality.
