Cameron Krauss has earned a nomination for the Jimmy Awards, which honors the top high school musical theater talents in the country.

Krauss’ standout performance as King Arthur in the Middletown Township high school’s production of “Spamalot” garnered him acclaim but also won him the title of best high school musical lead actor in the region from the Philadelphia Independence Awards, reported the Bucks County Herald.

Krauss’s portrayal in Neshaminy High School’s version of the Tony Award-winning musical left a memorable impact on audiences and his family alike.

โ€œMy dad cried,โ€ Krauss told 6abc. โ€œMy dadโ€™s not a big crier. He jumped over one of the seats to get to me at the end. It was crazy.โ€

The nomination holds a deeper significance for Krauss. He aims to use his platform to advocate for people with disabilities in the theater.

“I myself have Touretteโ€™s,โ€ he told 6abc. โ€œAnd thatโ€™s something that was difficult for me when I first started theater. And then I realized I can actually use theater to channel that energy. And you donโ€™t notice them when Iโ€™m on stage.โ€

This fall, Krauss will continue his journey in the arts as a musical theater major at Rider University in Mercer County, New Jersey.

The Jimmy Awards ceremony will be hosted by acclaimed performer Josh Groban, and it will take place at the Minskoff Theater on Broadway on Monday, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be broadcast live on YouTube.
