A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a crash late Saturday afternoon in Middletown Township, according to police.

The wreck occurred as the motorcyclist, who had just purchased the bike from Stars and Stripes Harley Davidson, was navigating the curve on Veterans Highway south of East Lincoln Highway.
Police said the rider lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the guide rail on the side of the road.
An ambulance transported the injured motorcyclist to St. Mary Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

It remains unclear whether the motorcyclist was inexperienced or an experienced rider who had just acquired the new motorcycle, police said.
Officers are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
